Series fall 2009 and emmys followup

I wanted to do a post like this many times last couple of years but never got around to it, lets see if I finish it this time.

First a little followup on my kopa emmys. I introduced the honorary award this year because this kind of awards don't really honor those REALLY amazing series like they deserve. The awards are just for what were good that season and depends a lot of which other series were on at the same time, so winning best comedy one year for example might be easier one year than another, and the actors awards ofcourse doesn't tell if they show is really good, ofcourse a little but. However this award which will not necessary be given out every year are to honor those REALLY good shows that are still good five years after they ended. So it obviously had to go to Friends, and if it's not obvious to you, either you haven't seen it in which case you shouldn't be reading this, my blog might be good but doesn't compare to friends, or if you have seen it you obviously have no sense of homour what so ever. Anyway I can still watch this show today and totally crack up or get sad when something bad happens and it continues to be one of the things I mostly wanna do at any time even though I have seen it very many times. On that note a new version of the DVD set was recently released, which I bought even though I had a DVD set already of it, but this had the uncut version, which is some 30 to 120 extra seconds per episode. Doesn't sound like much but it's almost 10 new episodes all in all. Some parts I can see why they decided to cut those but others are really funny and good.

Wow this was a long paragraph. So here's a short one to make up for it.

Back to the current shows that were awarded. Comedy series was somewhat close between Scrubs and HIMYM, but Scrubs really had a good ending (I know it's still on, but Bill Lawrence said it's practically a spin-off, and they only kept the name for business reasons).

Drama series was really really hard to decide, Both FNL and Lost had simply amazing seasons, I can't even remember what made me choose one of them.

There are two other shows I'd like to mention, which both got cut of rather quick. Cupid and The Ex List. Both shows that were mainly romances which not really any shows are, which made me really like them.

Enough about last season. Now let's have a look at some of the new shows. To make it easy I'm just gonna catagorize them.

The really bad, that I stopped watching after one or a few episodes:
The Forgotten
V

The okay shows that I just watch because there are nothing better or I've already invested in the charactors:
Modern Family

The fine shows:
Community
Flash Forward
The middle
Melrose Place

The really good:
Accidentally on Purpose
Mercy
Glee
Cougar Town
Scrubs - Med School

Melrose Place I have to say really surprised me. Glee is really nice because it's such a different shows. Cougar Town and Accidentally on Purpose are really fun. Mercy might be your usual medical show, but I haven't watched many of them. Scrubs - med school, which I choose to catagorize as a new show is off to a good start, I hope it will stay well (phun intended ;)).

Emotional Rollercoaster

..the story of my summer holiday 2009.

The semester ended with a B in both subjects, quite nice after the C and E last semester. After the last exam my class had a grill party to celebrate and another smaller one a couple of days later for those of us who were not at Roskilde Festival. Two nice evenings. The day after that it was the third of july, my mothers birthday. Danish rock band Magtens Korridor played at Tivoli here in Århus that day which my parents wanted to see, so they came here for that and at the same time I could come home with them. My siblings were at Roskilde and scout camp, so it were just the three of us. We eat at Tivoli, a nice buffet, before the concert, and eventhough it's not the kind of music I usually hear it was a fine concert.

The next weekend was the time of the Britney Spears concert at Parken, Copenhagen, for which I had bought a ticket. I borrowed my mothers car and drove to Århus the day before, so the trip on the day of the concert were a little shorter. Before driving to the concert I went across the border to Germany to buy some cheap soda and booze. Some six 24 packs soda, one 24 pack cider, a Morgan rome and some candy. Then to Copenhagen. It was an awesome concert in some ways, but in some other ways not so much. It was probably the most spectacular scene show in any concert ever. However it was playback except for 'Everytime' which was quite beautiful. Anyway I wouldn't wanna have missed it, but I do hope next time she drops the big scene show and sings instead :).

Since I wasn't going on any vacations this summer I was hoping to watch a lot of Tour De France, which I did, and a lot of July went with that. After the concert I got a flu which lasted almost 2 weeks :/ So that caused me to be very little active in the middle of July. On the 18th it was my birthday, so the day before (because my brother was going to a wedding on the actual day) we, my parents and siblings, took on a small trip. First to this place were they've made a miniature copy of the world (picture), a place I've wanted to go for a long time. After that we went to Mariager, a small city at the coast, where we walked around a bit and got something to eat.
A small week later my brother had a housewarming party were me, my sister and her boyfriend were invited, other guests were his former roomates and scout friends. Which meant there were not that many people I knew, but it turned out to be fine party none the less.

After that the two last stages in Tour De France. The absolut highlight of which were ofcourse dane Nicky Sørensen's stage win, and a beautiful one at that. His facial expression when driving across the finish line was so awesome (picture). As you should know Contador won, not exactly my favourite rider after him getting a free victory in 2007. A goal of mine this year was to find a new rider to cheer on in the years to come, preferably someone young I can see improve in the coming years. This since my previous favourites are not the Tour anymore, such as Indurain, Mancebo and Rasmussen. Hopefully one of two of these will be back though. However I noticed Tony Martin as a good candidate. Apart from a single mountain stage where he lost a lot he did quite nice and hopefully in the years to come he can do even better. And ofcourse I can't help but like the Shlecks.

In end july my grandfather was sent to the hospital, bad heart, after couple of days there were talks of him being sent home, but he suddenly got much worse and died the 2nd august, with funeral the 7th.

On the 8th I went back to Århus for a movie night with some of my classmates. We saw Hot Shots! Part Deux, Ghost Busters, Die Hard, Dawn of the Dead, Team America: World Police. Many of which not really my normal type of movie, but despise that and the awful pizza it was a nice night.

I stayed in Århus the next two weeks not doing that much. I started cycling every two or three days untill I got a flat tire. This happened while I was cycling home from Bilka were I bought a new camera. A Canon Ixus 110 is.

I went back to my parents place for the last week because of two parties the last two weekends. First was a 22 birthday party with one of my friends from high school. Awesome party, seeing some of my old friends that I don't see that often anymore. The next weekend was the wedding of one of my parents old friends. This was the first wedding I ever been to, so that was kind of exciting eventhough it was pretty low key. Next day I went back to Århus to get ready for the new semester.

Lying positions

So lately I've been having a hard time finding a good lying position when going to sleep, always moving around and such. Maybe it's because I'm getting so old now that I've been lying a lot and have used up all the good lying position, so I can't find any good ones anymore?

The King is Dead

At first didn't want to write about this, as I don't really write about that much stuff that happens, but it did affect me a lot today and last night. The king of pop died, eventhough I'm not really a fan of him, I have no problem calling him that. Last night around 23 people started pasting links in IRC saying he had had a heart attack. Soon there were rumours he was dead. I wanted to get some better confirmation, but knowing from experience, when rumours come like that they're most likely true.

I followed it live on CNN.com a short while and then saw two episodes of Friends (The one with the proposal part 1 and 2). After that I tuned it at CNN.com again and short after CNN had confirmed the death. Followed it for a while, just wanting to follow what is arguably the "biggest" death in my lifetime.

I think I've never watched as many news transmissions as I've done today, saw two on DR Update and TV2 news twice aswell. I even bought a news paper (Ekstra Bladet). Also downloaded the Thriller album today, and saw a guy who had bought some best of album of him at the pizza place.

As I said I've never really been a big fan of him, but I've still heard his songs a lot ofcourse. I remember following the decision of his trial in 2005 talking about it on IRC being very happy that he was found not guilty. One day at the danish emergency management agency driving to or from a running session, we heard Billie Jean in the radio and talked about him. After that I heard that song a lot for some time. During the first week at uni we had some singing competition thing where I had to sing Billie Jean, not an easy song to sing :-).

He made some amazing songs and has surely inspired many of those pop artists I listen to today. He was a big icon and it still hard to believe he is really dead.

EOL site: Teams

As you may know I'm making the website for the upcoming elma online. I'll write some posts about some of the features that I make, or maybe just this one post, we'll see.

Recently I've been working on how teams should work. At first you could just join any team, but because of the team rankings this was not such a good idea. It's not totally decided yet which ranking system we're going to use and how the team ranking is going to work. However team ranking might work a bit like this. Right now it's an average of the players in team, but someone suggested that instead it works like the individual ranking, so that in a battle the best player of each team in that battle counts for the team ranking that battle and the ranking points achieved is calculated based on the teams and other teams ranking.

This is why it is important that no one plays a battle while in a wrong team, hence fucking up the team ranking. The solution I decided on after discussing it a bit with kd is as follows. By default you can join any team you like. Anyone in a team can then lock and unlock the team. So when the team is locked obviously no one can join it. It also saves a history of which teams you've been in when. So that in case someone joins an unlocked team he is not part of, plays a battle, and fucks up the teams ranking, we can edit his team history and recalculate the team rankings using the team history.

I have coded it all except the part that recalculates the team ranking according to the team history. So I hope I'll be able to so all this works ;-)

And sorry it all this doesn't make any sense, but it does in my head atleast.

Goodbye Scrubs

So last night was the last episode of Scrubs. Life feels so empty today...

Started watching it at the end of season four, catching up over the spring and summer. Since then it has been one of my very favourite series. The finale was a great ending, I especially liked the fantasy at the end, getting a glimpse of what might happen in the future for the characters. After watching it I couldn't think of anything else, so spent the the rest of the evening reading scrubs forums, searching wallpapers, poster, other stuff, listening music from the show and eventually started rewatching first couple of eps from first season.

I've had a lot great times with Scrubs, such as watching it at the hotel in Manchester, and just watching it every week, and it has gotten me through some tough times, such as the night before my eurotrip being really nervous.

Thank you Scrubs.

Sunday night nostalgia

Saturday afternoon I suddenly heard a big BANG! and all the power in my apartment was gone. After turning on the relay again I realised it was my computer that had burned out. After telling about it on #ranks aph0 said he was max sure it was the PSU that had burned out.

After reading some reviews I decided on a Corsair HX520W, to replace the old, in the hope that on other parts had burned out with it. I found a local store that had it so I could get it from there already monday.

This all leads to what I really wanted to say. As I couldn't use my stationary computer with all my mp3's I used my laptop, and at one point heard some songs from youtube. I ended up hearing/seeing a lot of more or less nostalgic songs, and made a playlist of them.

To get back to the PSU, I got the new one monday, put it in, and it worked \o/.
